Unsatisfactory Performance Regulations
CSI Academic Standing Procedure
Good Academic Standing
Students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, are considered to be in Good Academic Standing.
To be eligible for Federal Financial Aid and to graduate, a student must have a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
Academic Warning
If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, you will be placed on Academic Warning for the following semester. During this time, you must complete an Academic Warning Contract, meet with your Student Success Advisor to create a plan for improvement, and actively participate in the Bridge to Success program. Students on Academic Warning remain eligible to receive federal financial aid.
Students who do not complete all required Bridge to Success coaching meetings and program requirements will not be allowed to register for future semesters until final grades for the current semester have been posted.
Academic Suspension
If your cumulative GPA remains below 2.0 for two consecutive semesters, you will be placed on Academic Suspension. You will not be able to register for future classes unless you submit an Academic Suspension Appeal and it is approved by the committee. If approved, you will be required to follow specific conditions and actively participate in the Bridge to Success program. *A separate appeal is required to maintain eligibility for federal financial aid.
Students on Academic Suspension who do not submit an appeal by the stated deadlines may be dropped from upcoming semester course registrations prior to the first day of classes.
Note: When reviewing an Academic Suspension Appeal, the committee will consider the students’ prior completion (or lack of completion) of Bridge to Success coaching requirements.
Academic Probation
If you are placed on Academic Suspension and your appeal is approved, you will be placed on Academic Probation. During this period, you are required to actively participate in the Bridge to Success program. Enrollment will be limited to a maximum of 6 credits during the Fall and Spring semesters, and no more than 6 credits during the summer term.
Students on Academic Probation who are not actively participating in the Bridge to Success program may not register for subsequent semester(s) until final grades for the current semester have been posted.
Dismissal
Students who are placed on Academic Suspension a second time (or more) due to not meeting minimum satisfactory academic progress (2.0 GPA) may be subject to dismissal. A dismissed student is required to sit out for one academic year from the date of dismissal. After this period, the student may submit an appeal for reinstatement and, if approved, will return on Academic Probation.
Please Note: Academic Standing is separate from Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standing.
