Students will be provided with instruction and demonstrations of various types of woodworking construction in specialty cabinet furniture and built-in construction areas. This includes more complex joinery, assembly, layout and artistic components of the woodworking industry. Prerequisite: CABW 159.

III. Catalog Course Description

Students will be provided with instruction and demonstrations of various types of woodworking construction in specialty cabinet furniture and built-in construction areas. This includes more complex joinery, assembly, layout and artistic components of the woodworking industry. Prerequisite: CABW 159.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

Students will learn how to make various complex furniture joints and cabinet joints. They will learn how to sharpen various blades. They will be able to make a cabriole leg. They will be taught and they will demonstrate how to carve a ball and claw and various other carving techniques as per project. They will be able to make a Tambour door and appliance garage. They will make and layout a jig to create a louvered door and or shutter. Or other complex layout for a cabinetmaking specialty project. With instructors direction and permission. They will be better informed of other special building techniques that they can try out on their special projects sheet. Learn how to think outside of the box with different and more complex designs of cabinetry and furniture pieces. Make drawings and cut lists of given designs and projects

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Students will learn construction of tambour doors, spice doors, closets, bookcases, desks, and basic furniture construction. This includes more complex joinery, assembly, and construction for complex built-in units, one of-a-kind items.
