This course introduces techniques and procedures of heat detection, semen handling, and artificial insemination of cattle.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

Properly handle frozen semen during thawing process Inseminate cattle Demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements of AI technicians in the State of Idaho Use EPDs/ PTAs to select appropriate breeding stock Describe how to synchronize estrous cycles of cattle for purposes of breeding and embryo transfer Visually identify estrus in cattle
