This lab accompanies the lecture, applying and reinforcing lesson topics through hands on experience and field trips.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

A. Demonstrate the use and calibration of different types of water quality monitoring instruments including pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and turbidity. B. Use portable test kits to perform laboratory procedures for water quality screening and analysis. C. Test for microbiological indicators of water quality. D. Correctly sample, preserve, and ship water samples from both groundwater and surface water sources to laboratories for a variety of analysis. E. Demonstrate safe laboratory practices when analyzing samples.
