III. Catalog Course Description

This course is designed for students who have completed the four--course painting sequence, or for self-directed students.  This course requires two hours of group critique per week. IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Solve increasingly complex aesthetic problems creatively, using strategies for expressing visual ideas through the painting medium.   
  • Create a series of personal artworks that demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the painting discipline, and the processes, materials, and techniques associated with it. 
  • Understand, interpret, and appreciate painting from historical to contemporary and articulate where one fits within this continuum. 
  • Implement increased self-critiquing skills to create personally meaningful artworks.
