This course introduces techniques and procedures of heat detection, semen handling, and artificial insemination of cattle.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Properly handle frozen semen during thawing process
- Inseminate cattle
- Demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements of AI technicians in the State of Idaho
- Use EPDs/ PTAs to select appropriate breeding stock
- Describe how to synchronize estrous cycles of cattle for purposes of breeding and embryo transfer
- Visually identify estrus in cattle
