III. Catalog Course Description

This is an advanced study in fisheries management problems and procedures. Problems/projects are assigned according to experience, interest, and needs of individual student or on-the-job training.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Assemble Hatchery management charts for record keeping.
  • Experiment with hatchery conditions to obtain optimal growth and feed conversion rate.
  •  Formulate management projections to obtain desired fish size at optimal time.
  • Design a working fish hatchery blueprint.
  • Sample count and inventory groups of fish.
  • Design and build necessary equipment for use at the facility (feeders, screens, cages, etc).
  • Operate pumps, sprayers and other mechanical equipment commonly used in the industry.
