This is an advanced study in fisheries management problems and procedures. Problems/projects are assigned according to experience, interest, and needs of individual student or on-the-job training.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Assemble Hatchery management charts for record keeping.
- Experiment with hatchery conditions to obtain optimal growth and feed conversion rate.
- Formulate management projections to obtain desired fish size at optimal time.
- Design a working fish hatchery blueprint.
- Sample count and inventory groups of fish.
- Design and build necessary equipment for use at the facility (feeders, screens, cages, etc).
- Operate pumps, sprayers and other mechanical equipment commonly used in the industry.
