DANC 280 DANC Portfolio*
The Dance Portfolio course will provide students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive Portfolio that will demonstrate the abilities and character of the person who created it. This Portfolio will be a tool to assist students when transferring to another college, auditioning for dance programs, and seeking employment in the field of dance. In this course, students will gather documentation of their work history, participate in a service-learning project or internship, and demonstrate that they have achieved the Dance Department Student Learning Objectives. Students will complete this project with a final presentation juried by faculty within the program.

III. Catalog Course Description
The Dance Portfolio course will provide students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive Portfolio that will demonstrate the abilities and character of the person who created it. IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Create a comprehensive Portfolio including a resume/vitae, representative examples of dance coursework both video and written work, service-learning/internship procedures, and a researched response paper
- Present their Portfolio to a jury of Dance/Fine Art faculty using successful and effective public presentation skills as demonstrated by the corresponding grading rubric
- Complete an exit survey to evaluate their experience with the department and expound on future goals within the field of dance

Potential graduates will participate in and be able to identify and demonstrate application of dance concepts through a service-learning/internship and researched response paper
Potential graduates will be able to show choreographic skills and movement quality through demonstration on a prepared video
Potential graduates will display knowledge of history, terminology, practice, methods, scholarly literature, culture, diversity, and genres as they apply to dance through examples of coursework and study.
Potential graduates will create a personal resume/vitae highlighting their education and experience in the dance field.

Formative (on-going) assessments:
Attendance and participation. Students will attend all monthly check-in meetings with the professor in charge and schedule any additional meetings as necessary.
Summative assessments:
Students will be summatively assessed on their completed Portfolio.
Students will be summatively assessed at end of term on their final Portfolio Presentation.
Students will receive a summative assessment based on attendance and participation for the semester. To earn an A in this category students must consistently reach above and beyond average participation exhibiting energetic, attentive, inquisitive, and respectful attitudes and show planned management of both time and project goals resulting in a comprehensive and organized portfolio presented professionally and on time.
Students will be summatively assessed at the end of term on completion of the exit survey to determine growth/change/ways of knowing and understanding.
