This course is the study and overhaul of power train, air and electronic shift controls. This includes engine clutches, range transmissions, main transmissions, torque amplifiers, differentials, brakes, final drives, drive lines, power shifts trans. and power takeoffs. PREREQUISITE: Instructor permission.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- identify all parts and systems used in the power transmissions of the equipment, this includes: engine clutch single and double type, transmissions, drive lines and components, rear axles including four-wheel drive front axles and rear-axle traction control devices
- understand and calculate gear ratios by use of math
- also understand: R/R Transmission, R/R Clutch, Perform Flywheel Housing Runout, Adjust Clutch and Linkage, R/R PTO, R/R Input Shaft, R/R Aux Section, Disassemble/Reassemble 5 speed, R/R Differential, Setup Diff
