III. Catalog Course Description
This course is a survey of major world religions including Hinduism. Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Special attention is given to similarities and differences in their conceptions of man and his relation to the natural world and to the divine.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Become familiar with major concepts of the great historical religions.
- Compare and contrast the great religions.
- Understand the important genres of religious literature.
- Study the historical and philosophical relations between/among the great religions.
- Appreciate the importance of religious ideas in the history of mankind.
- Consider the problems in translating very ancient literature into modern terms.
- Discuss the role of religion in contemporary affairs.
- Produce and present a creative research project to their classmates.
