III. Catalog Course Description

This course is an application of bookkeeping and data processing integrated into an automated accounting software package. Through the use of QuickBooks Accounting software, a commercial accounting software package, the following areas will be covered: general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Create accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP using QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to perform general ledger computer accounting for service, merchandising, and manufacturing business.
  • Demonstrate how to correctly use accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payroll, inventory and job cost systems within QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the accounting cycle
  • Articulate in writing what the various reports created in QuickBooks mean and evaluate how reports can be used.
