CISG 102 Photoshop II

Students will continue their exploration of Photoshop through working with advanced layering and compositing tools, techniques, and processes. Students will create a digital painting and will learn to composite photographic art with digitally-created art. Students will be introduced to vector drawing tools and their applications in a pixel-based imaging program. Color theory will be introduced with an emphasis on producing and printing consistent color.

III. Catalog Course Description

Students will continue their exploration of Photoshop through working with advanced layering and compositing tools, techniques, and processes. Students will create a digital painting and will learn to composite photographic art with digitally-created art. Students will be introduced to vector drawing tools and their applications in a pixel-based imaging program. Color theory will be introduced with an emphasis on producing and printing consistent color.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Use advanced layering techniques. (Layer styles, smart objects, smart filters).
  • Demonstrate the ability to use painting tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use vector drawing tools to create masks, paths, and shapes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use typographical tools and effects.
  • Create photographic and non-photographic artwork using vector or handcrafted art.
  • Apply concepts to RGB and CMYK color models, and be able to make appropriate color settings to assure consistency in color printing.
  • Students will demonstrate and use creative processes in developing concepts and designs for their projects.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to participate, using correct terminology, in the art of professional critiquing individually and as a class.
