III. Catalog Course Description

The Fundamentals of Electricity course teaches fundamentals of AC/DC electrical systems used for power and control in industrial, commercial, agricultural, and residential applications. AC/DC electrical systems topics include: basic electrical circuits, electrical measurement, circuit analysis, inductance and capacitance, combination circuits, and transformers.

  • Safely operate electrical components and demonstrate the proper use of PPE related to electricity
  • Calculate various electrical formulas
  • Understand the principles of Capacitance, Inductance, Reactance, Resistance, Transformation and Rectification

  • Understand the difference between AC and DC electricity
