Withdrawing From Classes

Important Information about Withdrawing from Classes and Returning Financial Aid Funds

If you're thinking about withdrawing from classes, there are some important things you need to know about how it might affect your financial aid. Before making any decisions, it's crucial to understand these details:

Impact on Financial Aid:

Withdrawing from classes can change your eligibility for financial aid and the amount you receive.

It's essential to talk to Enrollment Services before withdrawing and carefully review CSI’s Satisfactory Academic Policy.

Return to Title IV Funds:

Federal regulations outline refund procedures for students who don't complete the semester.

CSI's Financial Aid Office is required to perform a Return of Title IV funds (R2T4) calculation for students who receive federal financial aid and withdraw from a semester after starting classes or stop attending without officially withdrawing.

Withdrawal Date:

If you decide not to continue attending CSI after enrolling in classes, you must officially withdraw immediately.

The withdrawal date is determined by either submitting a signed complete withdrawal form or the last date of an academically related activity.

Withdrawal Calculations:

CSI will use federal regulations to determine various factors, including:

Institutional charges

Disbursed Title IV aid

Earned and unearned Title IV aid

Amounts to be returned to the U.S. Department of Education

Repayment Obligations:

Students who received federal financial aid but did not attend classes must repay all aid for which they didn't establish eligibility.

Repayment is based on the withdrawal date or last date of attendance, type and amount of aid received, and institutional charges.

Post Withdrawal Disbursement:

If you're eligible for aid that you didn't receive before withdrawing, you may be entitled to a post-withdrawal disbursement.

Disbursements must be made within 30 days of determination, and if you have a credit balance, it must be disbursed promptly.

Final Note:

Remember, any amounts required to be returned to CSI or the U.S. Department of Education must be paid promptly. Failure to make full payment or arrangements within 45 days may result in further action.
