ARTS 202 Studio Painting

This course is designed for students who have completed the four--course painting sequence, or for self-directed students. This course requires two hours of group critique per week. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Develop a personal voice in creating a cohesive body of artwork.
- Understand, interpret, and appreciate painting from historical to contemporary and articulate where one fits within this continuum.
- Present a cohesive body of work with an artist statement at the end of the semester.
- Implement self-critiquing skills to maintain an independent studio practice.
- Enter the workforce as a professional artist or working in commercial design – muralist, theater sets, gallery work.
- Develop durable skills including, creativity, detail oriented, problem-solving, writing, growth mindset
