The CSI Social Science & Humanities Symposium will explore various themes in American culture. The specific theme will change each year, but will always connect a relevant topic to current societal and cultural issues through the interdisciplinary lenses of the social sciences and the humanities.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Understand symposium theme events from historical, social, and humanities lenses.
- Analyze the contemporary impact of symposium thematic events and make historical connections.
- Recognize and more broadly consider the significance of societal institutions in times of crisis.
- Consider human strength, struggle, and resourcefulness in times of hardship as it relates to the symposium theme.
- Examine the symposium theme with a perspective that considers the humanities.
