Unsatisfactory Performance Regulations

CSI Academic Standing Procedure

Good Academic Standing

Students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, are considered to be in Good Academic Standing.

To be eligible for Federal Financial Aid and to graduate, a student must have a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA.

Academic Warning

If your cumulative GPA drops below 2.0, you’ll be placed on Academic Warning for the next semester. You’ll need to meet with your Student Success Advisor, create a plan to get back on track, and actively participate in the Bridge to Success program. While on Academic Warning, you can still receive Federal Financial Aid.

Academic Suspension

If your cumulative GPA stays below 2.0 for two semesters in a row, you’ll be placed on Academic Suspension. You won’t be able to register for future classes unless you submit an appeal, agree to specific requirements, and actively participate in the Bridge to Success program. You’ll also need to appeal to stay eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

Academic Probation

If you were on Academic Suspension, got your appeal approved, and completed a Plan for Academic Student Success (PASS), you’ll be placed on Academic Probation. While on Academic Probation, you will actively participate in the Bridge to Success program and can take up to 12 credits in the Fall and Spring semesters, and no more than six credits in the Summer. *Exceptions can be made by the Student Success Advisor in specific circumstances (i.e. trade or health science programs)

Dismissal

Students who fall on Academic Suspension a second (or more) time after failing to meet the minimum satisfactory progress (2.0 GPA) may be subject to dismissal. A dismissed student must sit out for one academic year from the time of dismissal. After the dismissal period, the student may appeal for reinstatement and will be placed on Academic Probation.

*Academic Standing is not the same as Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Standing.
