Geospatial Technology AAS
This program provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in surveying, mapping, and geospatial technologies. Students learn to collect, analyze, and interpret spatial data using a variety of modern tools, including GPS, GIS, remote sensing, drones, and AutoCAD. Emphasis is placed on integrating field data with digital mapping and modeling applications to support land measurement, mapping, and construction layout projects. Through hands-on lab and field experiences, students gain proficiency in data collection, processing, and visualization techniques used across surveying, mapping, and related industries.
Apply intermediate-level skills in industry-standard GIS and remote sensing software, including Esri ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and other comparable tools.
Display safe, effective, and legal use of small aerial vehicles (drones) and pass the FAA Part 107 licensing exam.
Develop and apply workflows for digitizing, classifying, analyzing, and, when necessary, field-verifying spatial and remotely sensed data to generate accurate interpretations that inform management decisions.
Collect and evaluate spatial data using GPS and basic surveying instruments, selecting appropriate precision, and accurately integrating the results into GIS programs.
Build industry experience and professional connections through internship participation and career-readiness activities.
Develop cross-disciplinary skills by engaging in one or more specialized pathways that provide the technical knowledge and language of related industries.
