Practice workplace safety and industry OSHA standards when performing service procedures, tool handling, and equipment operation.
Communicate effectively in a professional repair environment, including written service documentation and verbal communication with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
Demonstrate foundational technical knowledge of diesel engine systems, including operation, components, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance.
Interpret service manuals, schematics, and electronic diagnostic information relevant to diesel equipment and heavy-duty vehicles.
Apply electrical and electronic system fundamentals to identify faults in charging, starting, and basic electronic control systems.
Inspect, maintain, and service hydraulic, braking, steering, and drivetrain components found in diesel-powered equipment.
Demonstrate understanding of basic diesel emissions systems and environmental compliance practices related to fluid handling, waste disposal, and regulations.

There are 28 credits of required program coursework to obtain the Basic Technical Certificate.
At any time during or after completion, students may elect to complete 9 of the approved general education requirements to earn the Intermediate Technical Certificate.
