CISG 213 Production Multimedia*

Students in this class will work in teams developing a high-level, professional quality interactive multimedia project which will require prior knowledge in: design, video editing, sound capture, digital image manipulation, animation, web animation, and authoring. Students will become the directors, designers, software experts, sound engineers, and proofers of a final project developed to promote an organization or agency. This class will emphasize teamwork, design, and creativity. In teams, students will create a final project which will encompass the student's work as well as reflect on their attained knowledge of multimedia design, principles of design, industry practices, and the use of technical application.

III. Catalog Course Description

Students in this class will work in teams developing a high-level, professional quality interactive multimedia project which will require prior knowledge in: design, video editing, sound capture, digital image manipulation, animation, web animation, and authoring. Students will become the directors, designers, software experts, sound engineers, and proofers of a final project developed to promote an organization or agency. This class will emphasize teamwork, design, and creativity. In teams, students will create a final project which will encompass the student's work as well as reflect on their attained knowledge of multimedia design, principles of design, industry practices, and the use of technical application.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Create professional-quality interactive media which incorporates animation, audio, video, and graphics using "authoring" software.
  • Follow basic copyright laws as they relate to multimedia.
  • Effectively lay out a presentation from beginning to end.
  • Follow the presentation rules regarding readability, quality, and consistency.
  • Effectively utilize software and hardware devices needed to create and present multimedia products.
  • Effectively utilize graphics, sound and video in multimedia products.
  • Effectively work with digital still and digital movie cameras, from taking the pictures (videos) to editing the stills and/or videos.
  • Work effectively as a team member.
  • Effectively and professionally work with a "client."

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Outcome: To develop the student’s ability to work as an effective and participating member of a team, demonstrating positive "people" skills. Assessment: Successful completion of the final project which requires students to divide the responsibilities of the project, and then both "self-evaluate" and "team evaluate" each individual’s performance. The Instructor will also evaluate the individual and team performances based on an established "rating" sheet. Successful completion of this project will demonstrate the student’s teamwork. Outcome: Students will learn Adobe After Effects. Assessment: Students will incorporate Adobe After Effects into their multimedia project.
