This is an intermediate study in fisheries management problems and procedures. Problems/projects will be assigned according to experience, interest, and needs of individual student or on-the-job training. This course is variable credit (1-3 credits) and is repeatable up to a maximum of 6 credits.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Interpret hatchery management sheets for record keeping
- Experiment with hatchery conditions to obtain optimal growth and feed conversion rate
- Perform sample counts and inventory groups of fish
- Design and build necessary equipment for use at the facility (feeders, screens, cages, etc).
- Operate and maintain pumps, sprayers and other mechanical equipment commonly used in the industry.
