III. Catalog Course Description
This course is a continuation of keyboard skills for the music major, covering major and minor scales, rhythm reading, harmonization, improvisation, transposition, intermediate piano solo and ensemble materials. Non-music majors may take this course with instructor permission.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Perform all White key Major and minor scales HS, two octaves in 8th notes at quarter note = MM.100
- Perform root position primary chords in all the white key major and minor scales
- Play white key major and minor chords and inversions – HS
- Play I IV I V7 I progressions for white key major and minor keys
- Review all the technique requirements from MUSI 155 with greater fluency
- Harmonize simple melodies using primary chords
- Perform intermediate ensembles with other classmates
- Solo performance of Level 3-4 difficulty
- Prepare to pass the Piano Proficiency Exam for Music Majors
