This course includes a general study of kinematics, Newton's Laws of Motion, universal gravitation, work, mechanical energy, motion in a plane, momentum, hydrostatics, SHM, wave motion, sound, introductory thermodynamics, and heat transfer with applications to life sciences.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Apply foundational knowledge and models of Motion, Newtonian Mechanics, Energy, Momentum and Thermodynamics to analyze and/or predict phenomena.
  • Use appropriate mathematical tools in conjunction with physics concepts to solve problems.
  • Understand the scientific method and apply scientific reasoning to critically evaluate assertions.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific information via written, spoken, and/or visual representations.
