IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Apply foundational knowledge and models of electrostatics, D.C. circuitry, capacitance, magnetism, induced EMF, simple A.C. circuits, geometrical and physical optics, special relativity, and modern physics to analyze and/or predict phenomena.
  • Use appropriate mathematical tools in conjunction with physics concepts to solve problems.
  • Describe the relevance of the principles of electrostatics, D.C. circuitry, capacitance, magnetism, induced EMF, simple A.C. circuits, geometrical and physical optics, special relativity, and modern physics to the human experience.
  • Form and test a hypothesis in the laboratory using appropriate tools and techniques for data collection and/or analysis.
  • The student will be prepared to take entrance exams such as the MCAT.
  • Understand the scientific method and apply scientific reasoning to critically evaluate assertions.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific information via written, spoken, and/or visual representations.
