III. Catalog Course Description

This course will explore the interconnectedness of understanding self, others and the environmental organization in which we live and work. Topics include self-understanding, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, leadership skills, diversity, time and stress management and conflict resolution with emphasis on work relationships

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to discern and think critically about one’s own and others’ development of personal attitudes, perspectives, decisions and level of accountability.
  • Learn and develop soft skills related to future occupation – including but not limited to emotional intelligence, professional communication, conflict and stress management, and leadership.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how societal, organizational and cultural perspectives and practices impact individual and group outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how social and cultural diversity impacts organizational structure and individual development.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and historical trends in Human Relations.
