MUSI 243 Music Portfolio and Final Recital

This course provides students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive portfolio which may help them transfer to another college or gain employment. It also serves as the final semester of applied instruction. Students will gather documentation demonstrating that the Music Program Student Learning Objectives have been met. The final portfolio and recital are juried by faculty within the program.

III. Catalog Course Description

This course provides students with the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive portfolio which may help them transfer to another college or gain employment. IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate personal development and growth in vocal technique, regarding tone quality, resonance, diction, and breath management.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills in stage presence, regarding poise, posture, and performance practices, including stage deportment, storytelling, and developing a character or stage persona, when appropriate.
  • Interpret musical scores for performance, applying appropriate terminology and with increased understanding of elements of musicianship relating to pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, style, and communication of text to a piece of music.
  • Analyze and evaluate performances, both their own and others. This demonstrates both metacognition and mindfulness.
  • Create and produce their exit recital, demonstrating resiliency and fortitude
