This course is a continuation of AQUA 101. It is a more in-depth study of other commonly cultured fish species. In addition, students will study aquaculture marketing and business practices. Leadership, communication, and human relations skills as related to aquaculture and fisheries will also be included.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Identify and explain pertinent considerations implicated in hatchery design
  • Understand the roles of genetics and manipulation to maintain a healthy broodstock
  • Develop a recirculating aquaculture plan and explain the importance of sustainability in aquaculture
  • Create an aquaculture business model that includes planning, costs, management, and leadership
  • Examine multiple transportation techniques and identify advantages and limitations
