PTAE 204 Therapeutic Modalities*
	This course provides an in-depth understanding of therapeutic modalities used as adjuncts to physical therapy interventions. Students develop competence in the application of therapeutic modalities including heat, cold, electrotherapy, intermittent compression, massage, traction, and ultrasound. 		Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to: 
			- Demonstrate the ability to safely administer therapeutic modalities under the direction of the supervising Physical Therapist
- Apply the physics, physiology and rationale for treatment behind the use of therapeutic modalities to patient care.
- Compose a strong understanding for the precautions and contraindications when utilizing modalities as a portion of a patients treatment.
- Deduce the rationale for combining therapeutic modalities with other treatment methods that are learned in the concurrent PTA courses.
- Integrate appropriate documentation of the procedural intervention, related data collection and patient response to the intervention in the patient chart.
- Assess the outcomes associated with the various therapeutic modalities available based on the available research.
