MUSI 107 Music Production
Students learn methods for digital music creation and for audio recording and engineering. Topics include DAWs (digital audio workstations), samples and loops, synths and other digital instruments, basic recording techniques for acoustic instruments and vocals in live and studio settings, and an introduction to mixing and mastering.

III. Catalog Course Description
Students learn methods for digital music creation and for audio recording and engineering. Topics include DAWs (digital audio workstations), samples and loops, synths and other digital instruments, basic recording techniques for acoustic instruments and vocals in live and studio settings, and an introduction to mixing and mastering.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Understand and navigate the basic functions of a digital audio workstation (DAW)
- Use sample libraries in creating music
- Create new samples using digital instruments
- Use digital instruments to create melodies and harmonic and rhythmic accompaniment according to students' current musical abilities
- Capture audio in both live and studio settings using a DAW, audio interface, and microphones
- Mix audio, including using an equalizer, compressor, and reverb
- Master audio, the final step in preparing audio for publication
