		IV. Student Learning Outcomes
	
		Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to: 
			- List and describe career options available to veterinary technicians.
- Recognize common medical, state and federal organizations related to the field of veterinary medicine.   
- Discuss common ethics related to the field of veterinary medicine.   
- Demonstrate fundamental communication skills with both clients and co-workers.
- Explain basic principles of animal behavior and management techniques.
- Understand the human-animal bond and apply grief management skills with clients.
- Explain methods of keeping medical records and identify legal obligations regarding clients and records.
- Visually identify common breeds of domestic animals including companion animals, livestock, exotics and pocket pets.
- Demonstrate understanding of care of orphaned animals and newborns.
- Complete AVMA Essential Skills: OCC6, OCC10, OCC14-17, OCC19-21, OCC23, N1, N50-51, EXO23.
